Bruce's concerts of traditional songs and tunes explore the history and lore of the American folk tradition * Bruce also introduces the audience to many folk instruments. Banjos, dulcimers, guitars, mandolin, harmonica, mouth‑bow, washboards, tub‑bass and limberjacks are among more than a dozen antique and handcrafted instruments used.

Music and instruments originating in the Old World show the contributions of many ethnic groups‑ to American culture. Songs featuring American places and events illustrate the impact of our history and the development of regional styles.

Audience participation (geared to each age group) includes singing, dialogue and inviting students on stage to play limberjacks and jug‑band instruments.
